Office 365 is Microsoft’s popular subscriber service that offers software for consumers and business offices alike. Subscription plans come with Exchange Server, SharePoint, Skype for Business Server, social networking and a whole lot more. They include Home, Personal, various levels of business and much more.
Office 2016 began its deployment in September of 2015 and has been providing regular updates ever since. Most of the Office applications that come with your selected business plan will be compatible with your computer. When you subscribe to Microsoft Office 365, you get the new and updated features that it offers. And 365 is constantly adding improvements. Five of the latest ones in 2016 look like this:
1.) Power Query:
Office 365 uses Power Query for Excel to import your data sources and turn them into new tables and charts. The feature now has enhanced capabilities to make connections to the information you have stored in the cloud, and to add new transformations that will suit your changing needs for that data.
Your new Power Query can be combined from several sources of information. When your report is completed, it can be saved or shared.
2.) Your photos are easier to find.
The Search Photos feature can scan text, tags, and data from photos stored in OneDrive. Now it is capable of recognizing objects from photos, adding or removing tags, creating albums, and sharing your findings. Users can share files and folders by using links or email. You can add a note to the recipients and give them more control with shared folders.
3.) Microsoft Graph enhancements.
The Microsoft Graph Application Program Interface has the power to access different services and information from the cloud. Developers can now build their own applications from the data they take from Office 365.
Microsoft notes that developers can now access when a user is out-of-office and suggest meeting times based on their schedule. It is now easier to determine business solutions with drop-in integrations, and more notifications are given regarding users contact information changes
4.) Centralized deployment for add-ins.
Microsoft has given Office 365 improved ability to develop and deploy ribbon and button add-ins to help find solutions. The new Office improvements can move a client’s operations to the cloud or a service that is hosted privately. Updates can be made through the private service, or by the Office 365 administration portal.
Developers can now place Office add-ins on the ribbon or use right-click functionality to access them in the applications. And Word, Excel, and PowerPoint can automatically load add-ins.
5.) Skype for Business.
The new Skype Web Software Development Kit and Skype for Business Application SDK helps a company collaborate with anyone from anywhere around the country. Companies and clients can meet through a mobile app using video and voice. Meetings can take place through a wide number of devices. A Skype for Business Mac Preview took place in April. This is all part of Microsoft’s Skype Developer Platform.
Office 365 connectors allow developers to interact by creating an Office 365 Groups discussion in Outlook.
According to reports, Microsoft says that Office 365 is now being used by about 60 million commercial subscribers and has seen 340 million mobile downloads. That many people are not likely to be wrong. We believe you can find one of their subscription plans that fit your needs.
